Hmmm, there's still a problem with that: neither
/var/.../available nor apt-cache dumpavail produces a file precising
*where* to find the package. This information is important if I want
the latest security-patched version of each package, when available.

        Consider the following /etc/apt/sources.list file:

deb http://ftp.uk.debian.org/debian stable main contrib non-free
deb http://ftp.uk.debian.org:/debian/non-US/ stable/non-US main contrib
deb http://security.debian.org stable/updates main contrib non-free

How can I now where apt-get update found a given available package? I
dream of an "apt-get --create_mirror install"!
