It should be there... And it usually is in fresh chroots. Please post the output from the following commands: ls -l /usr/share/texmf-tetex/fonts/map/dvips/tetex/dvips35.map kpsewhich --show-path=map kpsewhich --var-value TEXFONTMAPS grep TEXFONTMAPS /etc/texmf/texmf.cnf grep TEXFONTMAPS /etc/texmf/texmf.d/* These should all be correct in a fresh chroot, but they will hopefully help us discover the real problem.
