Well, I'm the one who closed this bug, so clearly I think it is resolved. ;-) I remain convinced that it is a toolchain bug on the alpha, for all the reasons already mentioned in the bug report, plus the fact that turning off optimization makes it go away. If you want the bug re-opened, my advice is to investigate it and find either (1) a small test case to prove it is a compiler bug; or (2) the invalid C++ code in cppunit.
