First, would it be possible for you to reproduce /all/ the kernel output prior to this boot failure (or at least, all that's visible on the screen at the point of the hang)? The output you've quoted is much less than a screenful; is that really all that was output by the kernel prior to the hang? Second, if you can email me the broken initramfs image, I can put it up on a webserver for others to examine, in addition to poking at it myself.
