I was upgrading from version 0.20050402-4:
2007-03-05 12:01:34 upgrade openbsd-inetd 0.20050402-4 0.20050402-5
(above is the line from /var/log/dpkg.log)

During the upgrade, I  think I also saw the line
"Stopping internet superserver: inetd"
before getting the error message, but I'm not sure about this.
