As vorlon mentioned in #379413, nothing depends on libpthread2[1]. Nothing build-depends on libpthread-dev. The package is RC buggy. The package uses diversions in a very shady way:

The simplest solution, unless there is a use for pthread emulation which I am unaware of, would be to remove libpthread-dev and libpthread2. The only other viable fix seems to me to make libpthread-dev stop diverting other package's headers, and move its headers into a subdirectory. Then packages that really need it can -I it.
