I notice in the Debian Bugs Use Group that you have been working on a
patch for libapache2-mod-auth-mysql. It appears that the package has
been removed out of the repository also, which is a problem for me since
I use it in a production system at the moment (yeah I know, using
testing for production system).

If you're inquiring about my mod-auth-mysql => mod-authn-mysql patch,
I discovered how to use the original module with minimal changes in
Apache 2.2, and for my purposes, this is the optimal solution. I have
a partial conversion to the authn infrastructure if you really want
that.

My initial patch to do this was posted to the bug tracker, but my
mailer screwed it up. I don't have a copy handy as I'm away from my
devel box at the moment, however I'll post it to you when I get a
chance.

Do you have any Debian packages I could try out?

I have a hacked debian package, again on my devel box, and I'll send
that to you too.

Note that configuring this beast is a little difficult. I'll post you
a small commented config file to point you in the right direction.

Also is there any
chance that it will be included in the Etch release?

I am not involved with and have no idea what is going on with an etch
release of this package, and as far as I can tell, it's been abandoned
upstream and will soon be dropped from Debian. (Though this is purely
hearsay and I cannot confirm any of this.) If you are looking for real
information on this, email the maintainer of this package.

Also, the functionality of this package may be included in one of the
standard auth modules included with Apache 2.2 however I am yet to
investigate this.

Thanks,
