Yes, there isn't really anything special except deleting /pagefile.sys which is __highly__ unusual. Quite probably this means that the pagefile.sys format has changed and Vista stores information there for faster boots. It boots like Linux softsuspend. Could you please also test that whether Vista boots if you remove /pagefile.sys after ntfsresize? You can use ntfs-3g for this, it's in Debian unstable.
