I can't reproduce and we have buildd's setup (buildserver.net) which are successfully backporting & building the packages inside a chroot. 2. The current version of libcommoncpp2 in unstable has been 1.5.x since at least 2 Oct, which leads me to believe your build environment maybe a little out of date. Can you reconfirm you are having this issue with the current version from unstable.
