All is fixed, except indeed for the arithmetic error (division by zero). > Danai SAE-HAN (韓達耐) <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > There is indeed another patch, also provided by Taco Hoekwater: > > http://www.ntg.nl/pipermail/ntg-pdftex/2006-November/002522.html > > (with a reply from Thanh Han The). > > > > He suggests adding > > > > if vf_nf>font_max then > > overflow("virtual fonts",font_max); > > > > right after vf_nf (twice) in pdftex.web. > > Ah, so for teTeX and TeXlive (which don't have pdftex.web, but change > files to tex.web instead) this would probably be the following patch: > > texk/web2c/pdftexdir/hz.ch | 2 ++ > texk/web2c/pdftexdir/pdftex.ch | 2 ++ > 2 files changed, 4 insertions(+) [...] > However, if I'm not mistaken this does *not* set the limit higher, it > will just bail out with a decent error message, instead of - well, what? > I couldn't find it in the long conversation in this bug log. It seems so. :/ But I feel something's moving: another CJK user has reported a similar problem at http://www.ntg.nl/pipermail/ntg-pdftex/2006-November/002539.html . Han The Thanh has now provided a patch to let the number of VF grow dynamically: http://www.ntg.nl/pipermail/ntg-pdftex/2006-November/002540.html (patch is on Sarovar). This could be the solution to the RC bug (third time's the charm?). > > I don't have the source, so if you could test pdflatex with test.tex? > > You can find it here: > > http://users.edpnet.be/vanmeel/test.tex > > Which fonts (or other things) do I need to have installed? How strange. It shouldn't use "bkaiu" (which is the Unicode encoded font) but "bkai". But the "bkai" fonts are all virtual fonts redirecting glyphs to those of "bkaiu". Perhaps that's why mktexpk complains about missing "bkaiu" files, but I wonder. mktexpk shouldn't even be running, since all the fonts are already provided as Type1 fonts. test.tex is encoded in Big5, but all the Chinese characters are replaced by code characters which aren't directly readable. Make sure you haven't edited the file to include either CJKutf8, UTF8 or bkaiu. Perhaps you could also try to run "mktexlsr, update-updmap, updmap-sys" and see if kpathsea can find the Type1 fonts. If you run test.tex with "latex", it should be fine. pdflatex should fail with this arithmetic bug. The packages you need are: latex-cjk-common, latex-cjk-chinese and latex-cjk-chinese-arphic-bkai00mp. If it still botches, I'll upload the original Big5 file. @Jens: latex-cjk-chinese-arphic-bkai00mp already provides the tfm-arphic-bkai00mp. latex-cjk-chinese conflicts with tfm-arphic-bkai00mp (<= 2.11.2-0.1).
