The compile log that Martin sent is incomplete. There were errors above that he forgot to include, probably because he didn't notice. Somewhere up there, it says that libcrystal.a didn't compile, and probably has hints as to why.
I have compiled crystal space many times (original source, not debian). I have noticed that the best way to capture the errors are to route stdout to a file. Congratulations to the maintainer on getting crystal space to compile. It isn't an easy feat to accomplish. Or, rather, compiling in such a way as to get the test apps to run is a feat.
