In detail, on a pretty standard configuration (only mediawiki 1.7 in addition to standard modules) I had to do
a2enmod authz_host
a2enmod mime
a2enmod alias
a2enmod setenvif
to get apache2 running again. While the fix is easy enough, I would
still regard this as a bug, given that the update WILL break users'
systems.
