Looking into it, it sounds like for APC Back-UPS RS 1500MS2 to work with nut, it might need some forked version of libmodbus. Not sure yet if that's something that will need a separate package in Debian or may be Debian can just start using the fork instead of regular libmodbus? But either way, it doesn't sound yet like a straightforward replacement.
