I suggest packaging the latest upstream snapshot of lrzsz: - https://github.com/UweOhse/lrzsz (Git revision 399d4f3) plus these two patches: - https://github.com/UweOhse/lrzsz/pull/9 - https://github.com/UweOhse/lrzsz/pull/8 The git snapshot builds fine on a current Debian system with just these two patches applied. This way you will be able to get rid of all the other patches.
