Yes, the solution is to kill the perl process that is running the xserver-org.postinst script, then run "dpkg-reconfigure debconf", and set the priority to low. then run "dpkg --configure -a" which will start the xserver-xorg postinst again, this time it should succeed. after which, you may want to "dpkg-reconfigure debconf" again to return your debconf priority to medium or high. stew
