are installed by both pdl/1:2.081-2 as present in bookworm and by
libpdl-graphics-trid-perl versions 2.100-1 and 2.100-2 as present in
trixie and sid respectively. Attempting to unpack both (as may happen in
a release upgrade) results in an unpack error from dpkg.

>From the outset, it looks to me like this package was split out of the
main pdl package as it now recommends libpdl-graphics-trid-perl and has
lost those files in later uploads. I fail to identify the version of pdl
that lost those files from the changelog. I see that
libpdl-graphics-trid-perl already Depends: pdl (>= 1:2.098-4) and
therefore Breaks: pdl (<< 1:2.098-4) is implied. What is missing here is

    Replaces: pdl (<< version_of_pdl_that_lost_those_manual_pages~)
