Hello! I am the original submitter of this bug report. I have recently moved away from lxpanel: I have switched to xfce4-panel. I had to adjust my setup a little, but, overall, I am quite happy with what I could achieve. My current setup (within a desktop based on Fluxbox) is described in my documentation [page].
