Regarding Geo::Calc version 0.12, there is something very wrong. The distance from London to Tokyo, 11314595.851556 is different that from Tokyo to London, 8256133.168096 !! See https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=146578 . There is no activity on the many years of reports there. Are you sure this package should be in Debian?
