Hi, I received the following mail which might be of interest for those debugging this issue:
----- Forwarded message from "Mark E. Shoulson" <m...@shoulson.com> ----- Date: Mon, 5 Sep 2022 09:47:32 -0400 From: "Mark E. Shoulson" <m...@shoulson.com> To: a...@debian.org Subject: Bug#1017845: Endless fork loop at installation time: /usr/bin/emacs --batch -l /tmp/emacs-int-comp-subr--trampoline-7363726f6c6c2d6f746865722d77696e646f77_scroll_other_window_0-<random>.el I'm not on the mailing list in question, came across your email while researching the same problem when I had it, and I might have something useful to contribute, in the form of a "golfed" minimal example that causes the problem, so you don't have to pore over huge libraries. My emacs, upon upgrading, did the exact same looping just when executing this: (fset 'yes-or-no-p (symbol-function 'y-or-n-p)) That's all it takes. Finally dawned on me to downgrade emacs. Just in case it helps. ~mark ----- End forwarded message ----- (And yes, I asked if I may forward this mail.)
