Hmm. Well, can you edit the postinst in
/var/lib/dpkg/info/linux-image-2.6.16-2-amd64-k8_2.6.16-14.postinst,
set DEBUG=1, and run
# /var/lib/dpkg/info/linux-image-2.6.16-2-amd64-k8_2.6.16-14.postinst configure
as root?
I think I see a typo in the postinst, but I'd like to be
sure. Also, for me, update-grub does not seem to care about the
symlink, it just takes care of it -- I have even stopped having the
postinst generate symlinks anymore.
