I suspect this is happening because Xwayland has crashed (you can find out by looking at previous lines in the system log). If it is, please report that as a bug in Xwayland, with a backtrace: https://wiki.debian.org/HowToGetABacktrace It is unlikely to be possible to fix this without either a backtrace, or a sequence of instructions to reproduce the same crash. smcv
