Ew, I tend to disagree. The changelog on their web page lists a "shared library version correct" as a bugfix and indeed the top-level Makefile.am contains the following: LIBGMPXX_LT_CURRENT = 4 LIBGMPXX_LT_REVISION = 1 LIBGMPXX_LT_AGE = 1 Considering that libgmpxx*3* is currently in the archives it looks to me as if they have bumped the SONAME.
