Debian has 2 packages (pick one or the other, not both) that can help: gnome-shell-extension-top-icons-plus or gnome-shell-extension-appindicator. Once installed, I recommend logging out and logging back in, then you need to enable the extension. You can use the GNOME Tweaks app to enable and disable GNOME Shell extensions. Thanks, Jeremy Bicha
