Package: mpg123 Version: 1.25.10-2 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable
Dear Maintainer, I wanted to play some music on my freshly set up laptop, and my usual approach is to type 'mpg123 -Z *.mp3'. However, no matter which mp3 file I played (out of 100+), they all came out sounding like static. Running 'mplayer *.mp3' and 'mpg321 -Z *.mp3' worked correctly, and music played. Typing 'file *.mp3' shows the files are this type: file *.mp3 | cut -d: -f2- | sed 's/^ *//' | sort | uniq -c 1 Audio file with ID3 version 2.4.0, contains:MPEG ADTS, layer III, v1, 160 kbps, 48 kHz, Stereo 11 Audio file with ID3 version 2.4.0, contains:MPEG ADTS, layer III, v1, 64 kbps, 44.1 kHz, Stereo 48 Audio file with ID3 version 2.4.0, contains:MPEG ADTS, layer III, v1, 64 kbps, 48 kHz, Stereo It's not clear what's going wrong. -- System Information: Distributor ID: Kali Description: Kali GNU/Linux Rolling Release: 2019.2 Codename: n/a Architecture: x86_64 Kernel: Linux 4.19.0-kali5-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages mpg123 depends on: ii libasound2 1.1.8-1 ii libaudio2 1.9.4-6 ii libc6 2.28-10 ii libjack-jackd2-0 [libjack-0.125] 1.9.12~dfsg-2 ii libmpg123-0 1.25.10-2 ii libopenal1 1:1.19.1-1 ii libout123-0 1.25.10-2 ii libportaudio2 19.6.0-1 ii libpulse0 12.2-4 mpg123 recommends no packages.
