The nb-javac patch is necessary, otherwise the nb-javac module is not properly detected at runtime. You should see an error message when you start Netbeans for the first time then. Did you remove ~/.netbeans and ~/.cache/netbeans before you installed the version without the patch? I believe you are on the right track though. Regards, Markus
