Hi,

sorry for the long delay. I think I've found a solution to the
problem: the latest versions of initramfs-tools offer support for
custom hooks in

/usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/

which are run at every update-initramfs run, which we could invoke in
the postinst script. I've already committed a working hook script:

http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/demudi/bootsplash/trunk/debian/patches/initramfs.dpatch?op=file&rev=0&sc=0

but the package still needs to be polished. Right now I'm building the
latest 2.6.16-7 source with the bootsplash patch applied, and in the
next days I'm going to carefully test the package.

All keep you all informed..

Ciao,

Free
