Package: xbase-clients Version: 1:7.0.0-2 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable
After the upgrade to x.org 7.0.0 from 6.9.x, "startx" yields a default grey X11 screen with a mouse pointer, but no window manager gets started. ~/.xinitrc and /etc/alternatives/x-window-manager are not honored. After a while, the X server crashes with the message that xinit could start. Apparently, the X server does not permit any clients to run.
