Package: rdiff-backup Version: 1.2.8-7 Severity: grave --- Please enter the report below this line. ---
I've been using rdiff-backup (as configured by backupninja) for years, creating backups from 3 machines, one with Debian Lenny, another with Debian Stretch, and the last one with Debian Buster (this one, on my local network). The server was a Debian Lenny machine, upgraded to Stretch last May. Since May 18th, I've observed the following behaviour: I can login with ssh (public key) from any of the three machines. However, rdiff-backup fails on both remote machines (Lenny and Stretch) but it works on the Buster one. I just found a related bug, https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=788871, but it seems to be related to pre-jessie to jessie upgrade. The proposed solution (changing server's backup shell to /bin/sh) doesn't work. This is the actual error message: Fatal Error: Truncated header string (problem probably originated remotely) Couldn't start up the remote connection by executing ssh -C user@server rdiff-backup --server Remember that, under the default settings, rdiff-backup must be installed in the PATH on the remote system. See the man page for more information on this. This message may also be displayed if the remote version of rdiff-backup is quite different from the local version (1.2.8). Warning: Failed removing backups older than 15D. Error: ssh: connect to host server: Connection timed out As you can see, the connection times out but, as stated before, works fine just logging with ssh. Please, let me know if I can do any test to debug this. Introduce los/las destinatarias en el apartado CCO (Con Copia Oculta) 2.- Existen otros programas de mensajería instantánea libres y gratuitos, así que no es ningún drama que MSN desaparezca o que hagan lo que les dé la gana. 3.- Nadie regala duros a cuatro pesetas, verdad? ¡GRACIAS!
