Thanks a lot for the help Peter! It looks like JSStringRef.cpp was eventually fixed upstream (at least in OpenJFX 9.0.1+11 [1], but not on the 8u-dev branch yet). I'll try to upload OpenJFX 8u171 with this patch before upgrading to OpenJFX 11.
