This seems to be similar to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104325 as my tests indicate that the corresponding fix https://cgit.freedesktop.org/cairo/commit/?id=82f4028532c11152a0110f1b277e3358dfca6545 also fixes the libcairo-perl test suite crash.
