Then why would you claim it's not a bug for mixmaster to write packets for out-of-spec hosts? If a host doesn't conform to mixmaster specs, then it's not a mixmaster node, thus mixmaster shouldn't be talking to it. You might as well design it to create messages for FTP servers (which are also non-compliant but equally functional as the current state).
