Severity: grave
Trying to creata file system to a USB key, Kingston 512M
DataTraveller, causes complete system to hang and all memory is
exhausted. Kill -9 takes 15 minutes to stop the mkfs.vfat process.
The USB stick was wiped and partitioned (512M, Primary) with
cfdisk(1).
Command used to format it:
mkfs.vfat -F 32 /dev/sda1
dmesg reports:
SCSI device sda: 974848 512-byte hdwsectors (499 MB)
sda: Write Protect is off
Using plain udev; "hotplug" package is not installed.
