Chatted with Laurent on IRC this weekend. He has no idea either. We
agreed that since calling "plymouth quit" shouldn't hurt, we'll go
forward with it and see what happens.

Nevertheless I had to do a small modification to Niels' patch as
"plymouth quit" alone did hurt a little bit as it seems to exit with
exit code not equal zero if plymouth no more runs or so -- which broke
restarting wdm. So I had to add an "|| true" to that call:
https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/wdm.git/commit/?id=1594b832

With that patch booting and shutting down my KVM test machine as well
as restarting wdm inside it works well again. I though still wasn't
able to reproduce the initial issue.

Will upload soon after this mail.

                Regards, Axel
