I did tests on different DEs (KDE, MATE, GNOME, Xfce) after installing the new packages in each case. Both 'scanimage -L' and actually scanning via frontends 'Xsane' and 'Skanlite' worked like expected. To summarize: I can't reproduce the reported crash neither with the packages in stretch nor with the new packages. Wolfgang
