Hi! This is not a bug in gitlab-shell, but in the gitlab package. I can reproduce it with the testing version of the gitlab package (8.13.11+dfsg-2): Setting up gitlab (8.13.11+dfsg-2) ... Creating/updating gitlab user account... adduser: Warning: The home directory `/var/lib/gitlab' does not belong to the user you are currently creating. Making gitlab owner of /var/lib/gitlab... Configuring hostname and email... cp: cannot stat '/usr/share/doc/gitlab-shell/config.yml.example': No such file or directory dpkg: error processing package gitlab (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 Processing triggers for systemd (232-18) ... Errors were encountered while processing: gitlab E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) The unstable version (8.13.11+dfsg-4) installs just fine.
