More info: I had invoked Fritzing from the menu, as /usr/bin/Fritzing and as /usr/bin/fritzing and encountered missing file errors in all cases which resulted in almost no parts being loaded. Just now, I completely removed the fritzing, fritzing-data and fritzing-parts packages, deleted the /usr/share/fritzing directory, then reinstalled all three and the error went away. It looks like there is some error in the upgrade process from prior packages to the new ones.
