Source: openvrml
Severity: serious
Justification: libpng-1.2-removal
Dear openvrml aintainers,
ftp-masters,
openvrml is RC bugg with 5 RC bugs:
#748045 openvrml: FTBFS with Java 8: cannot stat './javadoc/resources/*': No
such file or directory
#760928 openvrml: ftbfs with OpenJDK 8
#791232 openvrml: library transition may be needed when GCC 5 is the default
#812538 openvrml: FTBFS in clean sid pbuilder envirorment
#816115 openvrml-dev: Please depend on libpng-dev instead of libpng12-dev
The first bug in the list has been filed May 2014 -- it never got a response
from the maintainer,
despite Emmanuel provided a patch (which I'm currently testing if it works)
#760928, filed in Sep 2014, also never received any response execpt from the
submitter.
(also providing an patch)
#791232 from July 2015 has some discussion, but no message from the maintainer.
#812538 Jan 2016 -- no replies
#816115 Feb 2016 -- no replies beside the libpng team
As it is now blocking other packages, I raise the question if it should be
removed from Debian.
Please response to this bug, if there is no response within a week, I will
reassign this bug to ftp.debian.org.
Please note, that if decide to keep it, you need to fix your pacakge ASAP.
The removal of libpng1.2 will NOT wait for it, and when removed,
at least its binary packages must go with it. (Which can lead to src removal)
As said, I'm currently trying to get that thing *built* to get rid of the
libpng12-dev* B-D
in the archives, but even if I manage to do so, the is-unmaintained problem
still stands.
