Somehow I was able to make the error go away by downgrading the samba packages to 2:4.1.17+dfsg-2+deb8u2 and running `net usersidlist` again and then upgrading back to 2:4.2.10+dfsg-0+deb8u1 again. -- bye, pabs https://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise
