Upstream told me that the supplementary fixes will be released in version 1.54 as they are not urgent and that we can release the current set of fixes for now. He suggested to run the ECPointTest unit tests against the backported code though. I did not check yet what this involves... and whether unit tests are run automatically during build or not.
