This are moving fast out there. Mapbox folks have released a new product in september 2014 named "Mapbox studio classic":
https://www.mapbox.com/mapbox-studio-classic/#linux The code is still free: https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-studio-classic It seems to be a fork of tilemill: https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-studio-classic/blob/mb-pages/docs/0000-01-01-common-questions.md#how-is-mapbox-studio-related-to-tilemill#user-content-how-is-mapbox-studio-classic-related-to-tilemill It looks like there's some sort of mapbox.com locking however: https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-studio-classic/blob/mb-pages/docs/0000-01-01-common-questions.md#can-i-use-git-with-a-style-or-source-project And there are certainly new copyright issues, if only with the bundled fonts: https://github.com/mapbox/mapbox-studio-classic/blob/mb-pages/docs/0000-01-01-common-questions.md#what-cancant-i-do-with-pro-fonts Then there's mapbox studio: https://www.mapbox.com/mapbox-studio/ ... which is basically a web rewrite of mapbox: https://www.mapbox.com/help/upgrading-from-classic/ It's currently in private beta, so not much use there. But it may be worthwhile to wait a while before doing any more work here... A. -- The lazy man does not stand in the way of progress.
