I think it is still better to use upstream patch directly (yes it is larger but it brings the code closer to upstream, and this is what upstream actually used). If any other changes will be needed there, the more surgical patch may be more difficult to deal with. I'll apply http://sourceforge.net/p/edk2/code/15697/ .
