Wheezy has been frozen for almost 2 years now.... If you want to get a stable update in you need to make a minimal modification and run it through the entire administrative process with the (stable) release managers. The bug was marked as fixed in testing/unstable (which has >= 3.12). FYI, Jessie will freeze on 5th of November.
