Just for the record, I think the problem fixed here actually doesn't have anything to do with gcc 4.9. ICU was probably FTBFS for all versions. There was a time-based test that started failing between the last time we built and when the gcc 4.9 build was attempted. I didn't verify that the problem was unrelated to gcc 4.9 since it isn't really that important as long as it's fixed.
