Hi Marco,

I see these kind of deadlocks in reiserfs every few weeks. Certain
applications seem to trigger it more quickly (Java and iceweasel) and
sometimes I'm able to recover by killing certain processes.

Unfortunately things went wrong sometime after Linux 2.6.32; when
reiserfs was rewritten to use more granular locking instead of the Big
Kernel Lock. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be enough development
effort going into reiserfs any more, that I don't hold much hope someone
will fix it.

In the next Debian release, reiserfs support is planned to be mostly
removed I think. So I agree, you should consider migrating to another
filesystem, perhaps ext4. It is a shame; reiserfs served me well for
many years and several past Debian releases.

Regards,
