I guess that this is likely to break any package that build-depends on the former and builds PDF for Texinfo documentation.
TeXLive maintainers: I assume that this was an unintended consequence that should be fixed globally by moving the ecrm fonts back into texlive-latex-recommended. If not, or if I otherwise misunderstand the situation, please reassign this bug back to "autoconf" and I'll add texlive-fonts-recommended to the Autoconf build-depends.
