The sync_members script has a known bug (LP: #1243343) that throws a
TypeError when importing members with non-ascii characters in their
names [1].
Upstream fixed this bug with two commits (the first caused a new
TypeError, Python 2 FTW!). The change looks trivial enough to backport
it to the stable version, because I think non-ascii characters in names
are very common and that makes sync_members unusable at a larger scale.
The important commit is revision 1437 [2].
