Well, it doesn't seem to affect much people in the end. As I said before, my guess is that it affects people not using a session manager or using a session manager which (for some reason) doesn't register xfce4-panel in the session (which seems to be the case for you in KDE). All people using standard Xfce desktop are not affected, which I guess is the majority of people using xfce4-panel. Yes, Xfce is supposed to be modular and xfce4-panel is supposed to work perfectly fine outside of Xfce, but the development team has quite some time constraints and already said it wasn't possible to backport the fixes to 4.8. Feel free to argue on the upstream bug at https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8206 but I'm unsure you'll be able to change that. Regards, -- Yves-Alexis
