Coin, I tried with both patches and it works like a charm.The second patch makes sense, but dunno about idmapd.conf. it probably needs more review.
Nevertheless, creating a nfsroot is necessary to use FAI at all and fails with the default configuration, thus increasing severity to get something working in Wheezy.
