By following the gdb example below I've obtained a (different) backtrace by unplugging the power cord from laptop. This is the "voluntary" trigger of this bug for me.
BTW, this is now a problem for those that use systemd as well. Up to version 0.6.21-1, when using systemd init, gnome-shell did not crash or respawn itself.
