auto-building ruby1.8 takes a buildd offline for quite some time. E.g. on ia64 the build only ended after I killed a 20+-hours running part of the test suite. Please make sure that all programms started by ruby1.8 are terminated if they are no longer needed (and/or the build fails for any reason).
